At Twig Collaborative, we believe in the transformative power of design to address critical global issues. Our latest initiative, Magandjin Creatives for Palestine, embodies our commitment to leveraging creative expression for humanitarian impact. This project is a testament to the unifying strength of art and design in times of crisis, spearheading a community-led initiative to unite Magandjin creatives in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Our goal was to foster an enduring community of collective care, truth-telling, and action with Palestine, while enabling each participant to embark on their own creative projects in support of the cause. The First Gathering marked the inaugural community action and the beginning of Magandjin Creatives for Palestine. This event laid the foundation for future gatherings, designed to be passed down and built upon by creatives who will continue this legacy with more events. Part of the proceeds from The First Gathering event were also donated to Mindle Bygul Aboriginal Corporation (MBAC), an organization that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of Deception Bay and surrounding areas.

The creation of the Magandjin Creatives for Palestine brand and its elements was central to this initiative. We conducted in-depth design research to craft a narrative that reflects the resilience and strength of the Palestinian people. The brand strategy included defining clear values and purpose, establishing a powerful case study and value proposition, and developing a compelling content strategy that aligns with our overall mission.

The name "Magandjin Creatives for Palestine" was chosen to signify unity and creative collaboration while also acknowledging our deep respect to Magandjin’s (Brisbane) history, and the stolen sovereign lands of the Yuggera, Turrbal and Quandamooka people. Our values of empathy, solidarity, and action were embedded in every aspect of the project, ensuring that our purpose resonated with audiences and drove meaningful engagement.

The First Gathering also featured a compelling exhibition, showcasing creations donated by their makers as part of a fundraiser. These pieces were meticulously selected and strategically placed to evoke a powerful emotional response, fostering a deeper understanding of the Palestinian plight. All proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to TAQWA, a grassroots Palestinian-run initiative that supports refugee families arriving from Gaza. Given the urgency of this fundraiser for Palestinian refugees, our content strategy was designed to maximize the reach and impact of our message. Through carefully crafted copywriting, we communicated the importance of collective action and the immediate need for support.

We developed a distinctive visual identity that captures the essence of the project. Bold, evocative imagery combined with thoughtful typography created a visual language that is both striking and memorable. This identity was consistently applied across all touchpoints, reinforcing the project's message and enhancing its visibility.

The rollout phase involved the creation of a range of collateral materials, including print and packaging designs that supported the exhibition and fundraising efforts. Assets were designed to maintain the integrity of the visual identity while effectively communicating key information.

A dedicated website was developed to serve as the digital hub for Magandjin Creatives for Palestine. The site was designed to provide comprehensive information about the project, showcase the artwork, and facilitate donations ensureing accessibility and engagement for a global audience.
